Interview:
Q: How many agents do you currently have working on your team?
A: I currently have seventy agents.
Q: What are your recruiting goals?
A: My goal is to interview and screen a minimum of five new recruits every
month ... so far I'm sticking to my target. My aim is to hire about twenty new
agents by this time next year.
Q: What have you implemented to help you reach these goals?
A: I have built a website specifically for recruiting called
www.careerinrealestate.ca . I advertise in the local papers and
invite people to visit my website. I also invite people to assess their
suitability for real estate sales by taking the Real Estate Simulator.
This gives me a sense of their strengths and weaknesses and allows me
to ask probing questions during the interview and focus on areas that I
might not otherwise be aware of. It's amazing - it really provides insight
about the people you are considering for your company. The simulation part
of the assessment gives a realistic job preview of a career in real estate
sales (the highs and the lows). Now when I talk to potential candidates I
offer them an opportunity to 'test drive' the job before making the leap.
Q: What would you recommend to a broker who is interested in recruiting,
selecting, and training stronger agents?
A: Have a plan. Formalize the steps you take for recruiting, increase your
professionalism, and invest the time upfront to really gather information
about your candidates.
